"4G Speed Is Super Slow"
The 4G data is crawling, usually only hitting between 1 and 5 Mbps. I wouldn’t buy this again—just grab an eSIM or a regular SIM card for your gadgets instead.
"Outdated 4G Pocket Wi-Fi from Japan Wireless"
The 4G pocket Wi-Fi from Japan Wireless feels behind the times. It only supports 2.4GHz, the security isn’t great, and the battery barely makes it through half a day. Now I get why they suggest bringing a power bank! When I was in South Korea, our KT pocket Wi-Fi was super slim, lightweight, and could easily go for three days without charging.
"Super smooth pickup and return—top-notch experience"
Grabbing the device at Narita airport was a breeze. The counter was easy to spot, and since we had our contract printout, the whole process was fast and hassle-free. Using the device was straightforward. We made a habit of charging it every night, so we never even touched the backup battery. Our trip took us through Sapporo, the Nagano region, Nikko, and Tokyo, and we stayed connected the whole time with two Samsung phones running nonstop. Returning the device was just as simple—we found a mailbox at Narita within minutes of arriving. No doubt, we’ll be back for their service when we visit again in March 2026.

"Japan Wireless eSIM Let Me Down Completely"
I bought an eSIM for Japan from Japan Wireless, but it didn’t work at all during my whole visit. I made sure to follow every step in their setup guide, but still had zero signal the entire trip. I contacted their customer service several times, but only got slow replies that didn’t help fix the issue. To make matters worse, they wouldn’t give me a refund for something that never functioned.
Luckily, I’d also picked up eSIMs from Trip.com at other times while I was there, just in case. Those were not only cheaper, but also way more dependable and started working right away—seriously, the difference was huge!
Traveling alone without a working SIM made things way harder than they needed to be. I can’t recommend Japan Wireless to anyone and won’t be using them again.

"Second go-round with pocket wifi—still great"
I've now used a pocket wifi from Japan Wireless twice, and each time it handled several gadgets and users without a hitch. The only spot where the connection faltered was up in the mountains, but everywhere else it worked flawlessly. I rely on wifi for all sorts of things—streaming music, watching shows, gaming, you name it—and this service kept up with everything I threw at it, and then some.

"Terrible Experience with Support and Product"
Honestly, this was a really bad experience. The eSim I bought wouldn't connect to any networks in Japan, so it was basically useless. Tried reaching out to their support team, but they just ignored my emails, so getting my money back was impossible.
On top of that, their website is a mess. The contact form's description field is super buggy—you can't even use basic punctuation like periods, commas, or apostrophes. And the chatbot? Looks like they never bothered to set it up properly, because it doesn't do anything. Whole thing feels like it was thrown together by folks who don't know what they're doing.

"Totally let down by this service"
Honestly, this purchase was a huge letdown. I bought what was supposed to be 10 days of unlimited internet in Japan, but things went south fast. They never sent me any confirmation email or order number, which left me unable to even file a complaint. I wasted two hours at Haneda airport trying to get the e-sim to work, but had zero luck. There wasn’t a single representative from the company around, and I couldn’t reach customer support at all. Ended up spending $110 just trying to call them from my main phone provider. Without an order number, I can’t even ask for my money back, and there’s no way to get in touch with them. In the end, I had to shell out more cash for a Ninja WIFI device, which actually worked. Save yourself the headache and avoid this company’s service—it’s just not worth it.

"Top Pick for Connectivity"
We got ourselves a portable Wi-Fi device. Collected it at our initial hotel, and it came with all the necessary gear—chargers and even a power bank. No matter where we went, the internet worked perfectly. Four people were online for over eight hours daily without a hitch. Service was spot on.

"Great signal, lasting battery, and fast connection"
The coverage was spot on, and the battery held up all day with juice left even after everyone used it. We chose the fastest option, and it didn’t break the bank. Everything worked smoothly. I’ll definitely rent their pocket wifi again next time.

"Top-Notch Experience and Reliable Connection"
Picked up our portable WiFi at Haneda’s Terminal 3 right after landing, and it was smooth sailing from there. The gadget fired up instantly and didn’t miss a beat for the entire three weeks we used it. We had three devices hooked up at once, and it kept us connected everywhere—from Tokyo, through Hiroshima, and even up in the Takayama mountains. They threw in a battery pack, but honestly, we never had to use it since the WiFi unit easily lasted all day; we just charged it overnight. Dropped it off at the airport in the prepaid envelope, and got a confirmation email the next day. Would definitely suggest this service to others.

"Great Budget-Friendly Prepaid SIM Choice"
I really don’t understand all the negative feedback. I got a prepaid SIM with unlimited data for 30 days, and everything went smoothly. Just so you know, 4,000 yen for this deal is way cheaper than what other providers offer! I reckon a lot of folks don’t pay enough attention to the instructions, which leads to confusion. I picked up my SIM at Narita Airport and initially went to the wrong counter, but the staff were super helpful and pointed me in the right direction. When activating the SIM, it’s crucial to take out your own SIM first (make sure to back up your contacts and chats) and adjust your phone settings as instructed. I had a fantastic experience with this SIM—one month of unlimited data and a reliable connection for such a low price. Honestly, I never used more than 1GB a day, so I can’t say what happens if your connection slows down like the provider mentions. In short, this is an excellent low-cost option for anyone who just needs their phone for things like Google Maps or translation apps!

"Got a portable router for our Japan adventure"
Picked up a portable wifi router for our travels in Japan. The whole process of collecting and dropping off the device was super smooth, and honestly, we would've been totally stuck without that internet connection, especially when navigating through less populated areas. The unlimited data plan was priced well compared to others. All in all, we're really happy with the experience.

"Great performance, battery, and speed"
Outstanding coverage and impressive battery longevity, with plenty of juice left after a full day of usage by folks. We achieved the maximum speed at a reasonable price. No problems at all. Definitely planning to rent their pocket wifi again down the line.

"Review of Portable WiFi Rental from Japan Wireless"
Here’s my take on renting a Japan Wireless portable WiFi for two people over a two-week trip. It wasn’t flawless, but I’m still giving it a solid 5 stars! Compared to the patchy mobile data I get back home in the UK—whether I’m in the city, by the sea, or stuck behind a thick wall—this device only let us down in places like tunnels, caves, or way out in the mountains. Otherwise, it kept us connected everywhere, so I never had to bother with hotel WiFi or hunt for public hotspots.
The cost for both of us for the fortnight (about £75 at the time) was totally reasonable. If the WiFi unit ran out of juice, there was a backup power bank included—not the fanciest, but it did the job. The device usually lasted from morning until early evening, around 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Only once or twice, after heavy WhatsApp use, did we notice the battery dipping to 5% by late afternoon.
Picking it up at the airport was supposed to be straightforward, but if you’re a bit jetlagged and lost, it can take a minute to find the right spot—though someone will help you out if you ask. Returning it was also in the departure area; the post box is near the lifts and escalators. Just a heads up: make sure everything is packed flat in the return envelope, because my cable got tangled and I had to shake it around to get it to fit in the slot.
Our trip was awesome, and having reliable WiFi made a huge difference! Splitting the cost made it even more affordable, and the connection stayed strong even with both of us using it for games, uploads, and searching stuff. If I ever get the chance to visit Japan again, I’ll definitely rent from Japan Wireless once more. Big thanks to them!

"Awesome Portable WiFi Experience Across Japan"
We rented a portable WiFi for a fortnight in Japan, perfect for two folks who use a lot of data. Picking it up and getting started was a breeze. The gadget ran smoothly, just needed to be plugged in for a charge once daily, and the battery held up all day even with heavy use. We had strong internet access no matter where our travels took us. Seriously, this is an essential item if you’re visiting Japan. The return was hassle-free, too. Can’t recommend it enough!
